when your camera decides to become an abstract artist

abstract I

until september 2011 my fuji finepix f200exr was producing very realistic reproductions of what we would call "the reality".
suddenly on 24. september everything changed and the camera decided to go into abstract art.

here are some of the last pictures made with / by the artist, formerly known as finepix f200ext.

what i find somehow surprisingly interesting is that the pictures are clearly interpretations of a "reality", as they randomly change accordingly to the subject of the photo.

it goes without saying that, at the time, i wasn't exactly amused by the new "career" of my camera. therefore off i went to the camera store to have it repaired. being as it was beyond reparation, i was given a voucher instead and finally bought a canon s100. the new canon camera works perfectly well, i.e. exactly as it should.
nevertheless, for some inexplicable and intangible reason, never got from it the same joy of photographing i felt with either the f100fd or with the f200exr. the images lacked "something" that i found with the fuji's, on a purely subjective base.

in the years following the camera swap, i often thought back again and increasingly appreciated the abstract pictures of the ill-fated fuji. looking backwards i have some regrets not to have asked it back from the camera store.
