to me modern art museums, with their abstract and non-figurative artworks, have always been a point of attraction when travelling.

sometimes though abstract art can be found around the corner e.g. on walls of buildings or on crumbling houses. this kind of art is made by time and decay.

it is a quiet and priceless art - free to enjoy. and mostly completely overlooked.

why?

wave

in museums, visitors are attracted by a specific topic or artist and later guided through a curated exhibition. and there every piece of art is framed and by that highlighted, with a physical frame and/or simply through the large wall interspaces.

in comparison to exhibition art, this kind of art is neither advertised, curated, guided nor highlighted or framed.

ladder and horizon

so to see this kind of beauty we need to become our very personal curators. we need to give it a value, an identity and maybe a story...

this three pictures have been taken in new york city, milan and cagliari. since most of these pictures were taken a few years ago - i really don't know if these priceless pieces of art are still available.
